September 3, Findlay, Ohio – A severe head-on collision in Hancock County on Tuesday morning left one person critically injured, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. on September 3, 2024, on State Route 15 near mile post 18 in Jackson Township. The Findlay Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that the incident involved a 2003 Ford Focus and a 2022 Freightliner.
Mark Beeman, a 41-year-old from Galion, Ohio, was driving the Ford Focus westbound on State Route 15 when his vehicle veered off the left side of the road. After overcorrecting, Beeman’s car swerved across lanes, ultimately crossing the median into oncoming traffic. His vehicle collided head-on with a Freightliner driven by 35-year-old Faysal Wais of Columbus, Ohio.
The impact of the crash ejected Beeman from his car, resulting in life-threatening injuries. He was airlifted to St. Vincent Medical Center for urgent treatment. Fortunately, Wais was not injured in the accident.
Authorities confirmed that neither alcohol nor drugs were involved in the crash. However, it was noted that Beeman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was supported at the scene by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, HANCO Fire and EMS, ODOT, BG Towing and Repair, and ED’s Towing. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
